Columbia, Maryland is the heart of Howard County and has been consistently ranked in the top 10 of Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live in the USA. Originally established by James Rouse in 1967, it features diverse housing, top rated schools and a great sense of community.  The downtown area features the lakefront, the Mall in Columbia, dining and shopping. Here you will also find the Merriweather Post Pavilion Performance Center, an open air concert and event venue that is a hallmark of summer and has seen the likes of top performers such as the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Dave Matthews and Led Zeppelin. Additionally, Merriweather hosts cultural events such as Wine in the Woods and the Symphony of Lights.  Extensive development is ongoing to create a dramatic downtown presence including new restaurants, shops and outdoor experiences.
